I started this site more or less by accident, after posting a few test pictures to my website from my mobile phone. Once I'd started, it seemed wrong to stop.
Many photologgers are trying to improve their photography. I'm not. I'm not a very good photographer and I'm further handicapped by the available equipment. So the pictures on this site are of low quality in both the technical and aesthetic senses. (I do occasionally Photoshop images which fall below a comprehensibility threshold, but which I want to keep for whatever reason).
In fact, that low-fi quality appeals to me: it more accurately reflects what I'm trying to do, which is to create a liminal record of my day-to-day life. As someone who works at home and reads a lot, I sometimes forget to get out and see the world. Hopefully this site will remind me to do that.
The name "eyecam" arises from childhood conversations with my friend Kevin about how great it would be to be able to record whatever you saw. We're not quite there yet, but close enough for the possibilities to be interesting.
The photos are taken using a Sony Ericcson T610 mobile phone and posted using Orange email via Mfop. The site is powered by Movable Type. RSS and Atom feeds are available.
